I'm Seamus, from a small shed in Kilkenny.

I cut, join, sand, and oil every piece myself. No factory line. No overseas warehouse. Just solid hardwood, built to be used for decades, not seasons.

The Shed

One maker, a Kilkenny shed, and good timber.

Same bench. Same patience. Still just me and the timber.

It started in the garden shed at 14.

A blunt chisel, borrowed timber, and more curiosity than sense. Kilkenny evenings disappeared into sawdust. What began as a habit became the work I still do now, alone at the bench.

Hollow factory furniture made me restless. Soft cores, pretty veneer, mystery glues. Boards that warp after one wet winter. Sold as hardwood. Built like packaging.

Away from the bench I also do photography. Same eye for light and detail, just pointed at people and places instead of timber.

Solid end-grain is different. Fibers stand upright so the blade parts them instead of fighting them. Maple and walnut, joined true, trued on the jointer and planer, then oiled and waxed until the surface feels like it belongs in a kitchen for decades, not seasons.

What leaves the shed

Chopping boards, maps of Ireland, chess sets, serving pieces, and the odd custom build when someone asks for something specific.

Built to be used, not babied.

Every piece leaves my shed with my name on it. Look after the timber (oil when it looks dry, keep it out of the dishwasher) and it should give you years of honest use. If something feels off when it arrives, message me and we will sort it out.
